I have always been passionate about the body and its secrets…I started with dance then various sports, I have known injuries but also the benefits of movement.
After being fully trained in anatomy and its different pathologies I worked for more than ten years with well recognized doctors and specialists allowing me to share and exchange experiences of pain and how to relieve it.
It was during my personal Pilates practice that I felt a real and profound sense of well-being with this feeling of control over my movements.
How could I not wish to share all this with you… So I have chosen my duty: To share my knowledge and help each person to discover this binding link between the body and mind.
It is a method of reinforcing the deep muscles that are responsible for posture.
The deep muscles are the core muscles :
Abdominal, pelvic floor and back muscles. They make up the central energy of the body, which allows it to be stronger and more stable.
Its fundamental principles
Founded in 1920 by Joseph Pilates in New York, the Pilates method is beneficial for the body and mind. It is based on 6 principles which are the key to its success:
To improve posture and to reinforce the deep muscles. Pilates allows you to be fully aware of your body to control each position, every movement, and to feel it deeply.
Back ache disappears, the tummy gets firmer, the body becomes strong and supple.
Pilates is a gentle discipline, to practice to your heart’s content.
Pilates classes are for everybody, the exercises may be demanding but they are neither harsh nor traumatic for the body.
The exercises can be adapted depending on the level and the needs of each person, as well as any illness/injury.
It is a method of diagnosis which consists of treating certain disorders by reestablishing a normal and balanced posture.
Contrary to belief, it is not the inner ear which allows us to balance, but other sensors, notably the feet and the eyes. (publications of Fitzpatrick, Mc Closkey, Baron…).
These postural sensors are very quickly and easily disturbed. This leads to an imbalance and to morphostatic asymmetries, responsible for pathological stress:
It is therefore important to look at these sensors and to isolate them. (during a check-up) to eventually understand their role in posture and their pain implications.
It is obviously essential to consult your doctor to ensure that your pain does not stem from any other illness.
The goal is to hi-light these imbalances within the body and to regain awareness of its movements.

The first Pilates sessions begins with reading the body, analyzing any injuries and/or pain to be able to establish together your motivations and objectives.
Exercises performed standing or lay down on a mat with or without small objects (small barrel, ring, foam-roller, Swiss ball, elastic bands…).
Come in loose/unrestrictive clothing and bring a towel with you to put on the mat.

In my eyes, to be a good teacher is always to listen and never believe that one knows everything.
